18 July 2007 Heald – Government doesn’t take flooding in Hertfordshire seriously Oliver Heald, MP for North East Herts, has called upon the Government to take flooding in Hertfordshire more seriously. Following the tabling of parliamentary questions on flooding in Hertfordshire Oliver Heald received a response from the Minister stating that he has so far not taken any interest in flooding in Hertfordshire and that he is only aware of one ‘significant flooding’ incident in the last five years in Watford. Oliver Heald has responded: ‘It is farcical that the Government only knows of one significant flood in 2002. I have had my constituents forced out of their homes from flooding and the Government is paying no attention. ‘I have tabled more questions to ask what on earth they consider temporary high water conditions are if not a flood. ‘I will be campaigning even more vigorously now for better flood protection for the residents of Hertfordshire. I shall make sure this Government takes flooding in Herts more seriously.
