MP’s Delight As Luton Airport Proposals Scrapped
North East Herts MP Oliver Heald has expressed his delight that Luton Airport are scrapping their plans to turn the Airport into a second Gatwick.
Commenting, Oliver Heald said, “This will be a great relief to residents in Letchworth, Royston, Buntingford and the villages in between. They already receive considerable noise from Luton Airport as aeroplanes come in to land or are stacked in the area of Barkway. It is very good news that this number will not be increasing to the level of Gatwick Airport.
“Many months ago, Peter Lilley and I and representatives of LADACAN visited the Minister in his offices to complain about over-expansion of our local Airport and have also attended many demonstrations and public meetings on the subject. It is good to know that the operators at Luton have been prepared to listen.
“However, we must remain vigilant, because the Airport will still want to get the maximum out of existing facilities.
“Many local residents like to use Luton Airport, but we don’t want to see it become a second Gatwick.”
