MP Takes Up Commuters’ Concerns Over Train Timetable With MD of First Capital Connect
NE Herts MP Oliver Heald met Managing Director of First Capital Connect, Elaine Holt, to stress the concerns of commuters in North East Hertfordshire that their services should not be reduced.
Oliver particularly stressed the importance of journey times to local commuters. It was confirmed that the Department for Transport will be making a decision on whether the proposals can go to consultation very shortly. Oliver Heald has received letters, emails and personal contact from commuters who travel from Royston, Baldock, Ashwell and Morden and Letchworth Garden City, who are worried about changes to the timetable,
Commenting, Oliver Heald said, “I made the concerns of local commuters very clear to First Capital Connect in my meeting with Managing Director Elaine Holt.
“Commuters are very concerned that their journey times should not be increased and that there should not be a reduction in service from the North Hertfordshire towns.
“They are also keen that there should be a reduction in overcrowding, but not at the expense of the quality of service.
“As it is likely there will be a consultation on the changes being proposed, I would urge commuters to join their local Passenger User Groups, and also to respond to the consultation, if it is allowed to go ahead.”
