North East Hertfordshire MP Welcomes University Success in ‘Green League’

Oliver Heald, MP for North East Herts, has welcomed the success of Hertfordshire University in the People and Planet Green League 2007.

The University came third out of over one hundred UK universities. Among the key reasons for the success were that Hertfordshire University gets 16 percent of their energy from renewable sources, recycles 31% of its waste, and has a full and transparent environmental plan.

Oliver Heald commented, ‘This is the first year that this league table has been published and for Hertfordshire University to come straight in at third is a great achievement that reflects the hard work the university puts in.

‘The environment is vital to our quality of life and to see our local university doing so well should be an inspiration to everyone in Hertfordshire.’
