29 October 2007 MP Supports National Specials Weekend North East Herts MP Oliver Heald supported the Hertfordshire Police push for more Specials to be recruited by attending their mobile unit at Tesco’s in Baldock. There Oliver was able to meet Specials and recruiters and also hand out leaflets to local residents.  The photograph attached shows Oliver with an interested potential recruit, who actually works at Tesco’s. Commenting, Oliver Heald said, “The Specials do a fantastic job and Conservatives would like to see a big expansion in their role. Specials are volunteers who are trained to have full Police powers and assist the local Police. They are excellent news and I am happy to support their work.”
